The mosaic design represents the many different types of violence for which the garden is intended to offer healing. Though we carry different pain in each of our personal stories, together we heal as a community, represented as a heart
The color scheme is a nod to Elijah’s long standing nickname with his family, Blue.
Blue surrounds us in nature in both the sky and water, which Elijah loved equally. Blue is an important healing color as it contributes to calm and serenity. When dealing with our emotions blue can evoke a desire to cool down when our thoughts may run hot. It helps lower blood pressure and can reduce rapid heart rate. Blue is relaxing for the mind and body. It is associated with organs like eyes, ears and nose and involved with the senses of smell, sight and sound which make blue a perfect fit for the feature sensory garden we plan to build.
