Yesterday EGH hosted our first Art in the Park event at the future home where our healing garden will be built, DeNicola Park! It was a beautiful day to set up a fun workshop learning how to decouage shells while enjoying nature. This easy art project is a stunner when the work is all done. Attendees were blown away by the cute pieces being created by simply combining glue and napkins onto shells and putting finishing touches on with a paint pen! The results left everyone smiling and talking about who was keeping theres and which ones would be gifts for friends and family for later.
After the crafting wrapped up, attendees toured the site where the healing garden will be built. We discussed the history of the Winchester test firing range and shared ideas of how the site can be transformed into a place of healing and hope for our community members impacted by violence. Our goal is to start hosting many more events at DeNicola Park for our neighbors to build community and connections at our future home. Stay tuned for more opportunities to attend an event focused on art, nature, and wellness soon.
Huge shoutout and thank you to our Board Member and local artist Marcia Thomas for guiding the workshop and providing helpful tips and tricks along the way!!
